Did God Create the Devil?

When we look back at where sin originated from, we often think about Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden.  Sin actually initiated in heaven with one of the angels known to us as Satan or the devil. Now we all at some time or other in our lives asked why God created the devil. The question is did He create the devil?

He created Lucifer, seal of perfection, full of wisdom and was perfect in beauty Ezekiel 28:12 . Lucifer was the crowing act of God’s creation; blameless in all his ways from the day God created him until iniquity was found in him Ezekiel 28:15. This character does not sound like the Satan as we know him. That’s because it’s not.

This was the perfect sinless being that God had created before he became corrupted by sin. In fact it appeared that this angel, Lucifer, was the closest to God than any of the other angels base on Ezekiel 28:14,

‘Thou art the anointed cherub that covereth; and I have set thee so: thou wast upon the holy mountain of God; thou hast walked up and down in the midst of the stones of fire.’

Now you probably wondering what would have caused one so highly exalted and favored by God to fall. That is actually the same question asked in Isaiah 14, “How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations!”

Ezekiel tells us that Lucifer’s fall was ultimately due to the seeds of pride that became to grow in him. Pride from the very beauty and slender that God intended to be a blessing. Isaiah 14 vs. 13-14 tells us that this pride actually lead him to desire the very throne of God.

  • ‘For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north:  I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High.’ Isaiah 14 vs 13-14

He wanted to ascend, to be above all other created beings…. He  even wanted to be like the most High, not in character but in position. Satan was saying that God’s way of running things on the foundation of love was faulty and that he could do a better job.

So who  were the other heavenly beings were to believe and how they were suppose to discern the truth? When all they knew was the truth? God had a critical decision to make. How would He deal with this rebellion, this sin that had entered into His perfect universe?

Some of us might say that God should have just destroy Satan being that He is mighty and can perform all acts. But if He had destroy him without the opportunity to prove his case , there will forever remain questions in the minds of other created beings. Questions about who is right from who was wrong and about His justice and fairness in dealing with Lucifer. And even if they still chose to serve God, it wouldn’t be because of pure and genuine love they had for God. It would  be based on fear of punishment.

So God allowed this rebellious creature to carry out his principles and to test his form of government, thus, the evidence will be given, the questions answered and then all of creation out of their own free will, choose whether or not they will still love and obediently serve their Creator.

DWYW-DO WHAT YOU WANT?

Recently I’ve noticed persons on social media have been hash tagging “DWYW”, which is the abbreviation for-“do what you want”. As the name implies, it signifies that whatever one wants to do with his life, he should just proceed since it’s his life! But is that really so?

What people don’t understand about Satan is that his weapon always and forever will be confusion “Morality is what you make it”.  Aleister Crowley, Occultist and famous founder of the Church of Satan, wrote a book, “Do What Thou Wilt” that is considered the Satanic Bible.  This book begins a revolution, telling man that he is a GOD; that reality is centrally an illusion; and sin is a myth and that there is no greater law than “The law of Thelema”, which is the same “Do What Thou Wilt.”

Satan wants us to do whatever we want or feel without acknowledgement of God, who created us to give Him all the glory, honor and praise in ALL that we do. Colossians 1:16 says: “All things were created by God and for God…” He did not create us as a means to crave worship; God did not create human beings because He needed us. As a Sovereign God, He needs nothing. God Himself gives life and breath and everything Acts 17:25. From before creation, He felt no loneliness, so He was not looking for a “friend.” He’s simply a creative Being-our Almighty God, and His creation gave Him complete contentment. He was not displeased with His own creation. When He made the universe, it pleased Him, and since God is perfect, His action was perfect. “It was very good” Genesis 1:31.”

Our life is not our own, thus at any point we can die. We have no control over death. Death knows no specific timing. SATAN HAS LIED TO US. He’s always lied. He’s the founder and author of LIES. He told us that “We are our own GOD, we answer to nobody and we do with our lives what we think is right.” I am here to tell you differently. God is real and He never told us that we wouldn’t have unnatural urges, and that those urges won’t feel good (sin often does) but he promised that He will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. When you are tempted, he also provide a way out so that you can endure it 1 Corinthians 10:13.

The Bible says that He wishes above all things that we may prosper and be in good health. So many of us want instant answers, instant prosperity and instant health. Yes it is possible with God, all things are possible with God Matthew 19:26 but it does not work like that.

Seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. Matthew 6:33. God being the omniscient One, He is, knows the perfect time to work. “God works for those who wait for him” Isaiah 64:4. Whatever God gives us is good and perfect. He knows all things best. Trust Him and believe in Him, and He will definitely come through for you!
